Before starting the discussion, we need to know what the purpose of the RIO file is.

Why Need the RIO File?

We need the RIO file to test the relay by Omicron. After exporting the relay settings as RIO, we import this file into Testuniverse. Then, testing curves like zones, overcurrent, and differential will be created automatically in TestUniverse. That will make our lives easy.

How to Import RIO from Digsi5 Software?

Importing the RIO file from Digsi5 is very easy. You can do this by following these steps.

  1. First, open your Digsi5 software and open your project with the desired relay set file. It looks like this:

2. Then right-click on the relay, a window like below will come.

3. Now, click on export. The window below will come.

4. Select RIO. Then select the file location(I want to save in desktop now). Then click on export.
A RIO file for this relay will be generated.

By following these four steps, you can easily export RIO from Digsi5.

You can use this relay file in Omicron Testuniverse.
